Virtually all electrical products-from the simplest kitchen appliance to the most sophisticated medical device-are potential emitters of electromagnetic waves. In addition, many devices are potentially affected by electromagnetic waves from other products in the vicinity.
These emissions may interfere with a product's safe operation and performance. As more electrical products enter the marketplace, and as products become more sophisticated and more sensitive, it becomes increasingly important to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).
