Carrier Safety Management System Qualification Program

To complement the CSA B619-00 Carrier Safety Management Systems standard, CSA has launched a CSMS qualification program. Under this voluntary program, your safety management system efforts can be audited by an independent third party (CSA International) and recognized wherever your trucks travel.

Program goals

To provide a needed service to carriers which will help them:

  • To implement an efficient and effective safety management system reducing the risk of accidents and safety incidents
  • To enhance credibility among carriers, the public and regulators through third-party audits
  • To help demonstrate to customers, regulators and the public that they have adopted a safety management system
  • To exceed legal safety requirements while providing significant benefits to the carrier.

How you benefit

The CSMS qualification program can help you attain best practices in the industry and offers you:

  • Public recognition of your qualification through a CSA CSMS label displayed on your truck
  • Differentiation as a qualified carrier in a competitive marketplace
  • A framework for continuously improving management effectiveness
  • Performance benchmarks for your management system
  • Potential savings in:
    • maintenance costs and downtime
    • accidents
    • fines and other penalties for safety violations

Already have a safety system in place? Just considering one?

Either way, the CSMS program could work for you.

Carrier Mark What better way is there to show everyone you're on the right road with safety management than by proudly displaying the CSA CSMS label on the side of your carrier unit?

How to qualify

Qualification to the CSMS standard is voluntary. Our Transportation Services representatives would be pleased to meet with you to discuss your company's safety system and how you can benefit from the qualification program. After your initial qualification, you'll receive annual surveillance audits of your carrier safety management systems.
